A few snippets from our trip to South Wales:
- No-one arrived at Jonny's house until after midnight on Friday. The late night continued with frantic bike building way into the small hours.
- Saturday morning too us to Cwmcarn, past some VERY steep mountains. Steeper than Greece anyway.
- The Cwmcarn track wasn't that long but the bottom half was incredibly fast... Too fast for poor old Marchment, he managed to fall awkwardly and break his wrist.
- We were treated to the view rom a 'secret' downhill track just aroun the valley on Saturday evening. Stunning views from the top made the push up really worth it....
- I can really tune people's forks well, especially in a car park.
- Due to poor communication there we more people than we were planning on staying chez Jonny. Nevermind, his housemates have learnt to be incredibly tolerant and knocking up another bed was as simple as putting two chairs together.
- The 'secret' track on Sunday made the whole weekend worthwhile. We were lead into this deserted valley which was home to a top quality downhill track with a very servicable uplift run.
- Sunday afternoon was spent speeding up and down the fireroads in the van, and 'ripping it up' down the track. Actually, only one person really ripped....
- Sam rode all day without a chain. Although he claimed this was making him so much slower because he couldn't pedal out of corners, no-one actually believed him so he shut up.
- The severity of the course did take it's toll with numerous mechanical problems keeping people busy with the tool kits...
- Funniest moment had to be watching Monarch front flip off the edge of The Darran quarry... no bike though, just a gravally landing... photo's to come.....
- The weather really couldn't have been better all weekend, we are very lucky.
- Cheers everyone who came, drove, had to sleep on the floor, had to sleep in Jonny's room, were sensible enough to bring food etc etc etc... Lets see how this helps us for Hopton...
