DH racing 2003

We have decided that the club will subsidise three downhill races this season for anyone who wants to compete*. Subsidy will be 50/50 - the club will pay half of the entry fee. We will not be laying on transport specifically although if the demand is there we may try and sort something out - this will be out of our pockets though, not from the club.

The races so far are:

NPS DH Rd. 1 @ Combe Sydenham - 2nd, 3rd, 4th May.

Dragon Downhill Rd. 5 & 6 @ Abercarn - 7th, 8th June.

Race three is yet to be decided and will be over the summer holidays. We were going to do NPS3 but this is at Abercarn too... If people don't mind racing Abercarn twice we may do that... Abercarn was where we rode a few weekends ago. Everyone enjoyed riding there but whether it is worthy of two more visits is to be decided (any opinions, use the forum!)

Also, please note a few things:

  • Entry forms avaliable from the websites above.
  • Make a cheque out for half the cost of entering the race payable to "U of NSU Cycling" NOT to the race organisers. eg. 20 for the NPS race.
  • I need entries and cheques for the NPS race by Wednesday 23rd April at the VERY latest. That is the 1st Wednesday of term. I will be outside the Portland building at 2pm.
  • Entries for the Dragon by Wednesday 7th May - hayes_john's 21st BTW - If you only want to do one round of the Dragon that is fine.
  • Please put "nubike.com" for your "team/club" bit on the entry form.
  • The NPS race is a two day event, with uplift on Saturday (practice) too.
  • Jonny Fox does not operate an 'open house' to anyone from Nottingham Uni looking to ride in Wales!!

* "Three races" may become "four" or even "five" depending on demand: there is only so much money to go around. It would be great if we could get loads of people to a few races though, whether you have raced downhill before or not. I'm sure anyone who was at Hopton will testify to that...
