First Club Ride this Saturday

Phil R
25 September 2004

Hi everyone,

Firstly, thanks a lot for visiting us at Freshers Fayre.  And for those of you who have joined the club already, I hope you make it out as much as you can.  For those of you that haven't joined the club jet but are on the mailing list, feel free to come along and see what we get up to before parting with your cash.

The first club ride will be this Saturday at 12 noon, from the Portland Building steps.  There will be Road, Cross Country and Downhill/Jump rides going out.  All you need is a bike, a helmet (the club has a couple of helmets to borrow) and if not cycling clothing, something comfortable and not too sweaty!  For those of you that don't have a bike at uni yet, the club rides will be every Wednesday and Saturday from now on.  And if you won't be getting a bike for Uni, we will be arranging a trip to Cannock Chase where cross country bikes can hired, in the near future.

Road rides will be suitable for all levels of fitness so if you are new to the sport, don't be put off.  The ride will be going out of the traffic light areas of the city onto the quieter roads of the Nottinghamshire countryside.

The cross country ride will accomodate for all fitness levels.  The more experienced riders perhaps going further afield.  We can decide later but common areas that we cycle are Bestwood Country Park and Hemlock.  Both within easy afternoon-ride reach.

The Freeride/Downhill folk amongst us will head out to Hemlock where there are several shortish downhill routes and plenty of jumps, drops and doubles etc.

If your bike needs a little work then there is a full tool kit available to club members as well as help and advice from the committee.  E-mail, ring or post on the wedsite if you need anything.  If you would rather that a proffesional handled things, Freewheel in town can help you out.

Feel free to drop me a mail or post on the site if there is anything else you would like to know and I hope yo see you on Saturday.

Cheers,  Phil
