Midlands XC Round 2
2008-05-25
Round 2 25th May
Venue: Cannock Chase
Riding style: will favour racers who can climb and/or style it up on the descents
Cannock Chase is the venue for round two, location of last year’s Midlands series, with a highly praised course that even saw riders taking part in the morning race, and then entering the afternoon race for a chance to go round again!
Following rider feedback, the compact course will be an evolution of what was used last year, with some new sections of singletrack to keep things fresh. The course also passes the arena several times each lap, making it easy for spectators to keep up with the unfolding action.
It may be the Midlands, but riders will encounter big climbs, big descents, big berms and maybe even a rollercoaster… Liam Killeen rode the whole lap in the big dog when he won the elite race here last September, can you?
Location: Cannock Chase is situated to the North of Birmingham, with easy access from the M6, A5 and M54. The event arena will be located off the Rugeley Road entrance to the ‘Special Events Area’. Signposted off the A51 at Bereton; and signposted from the A460 Rugeley to Hednesford road. Entrance is half way between Beaudesert Golf Club and the C&CC Campsite. Parking is situated at the event site and at the adjacent car park (Beaudesert Old Park) and will be marshaled on race day.
