Merida 12 Hours of Bristol

20 June 2004

After the launch of the 12 Hours of Bristol we will see the return of the event in 2004 on the 19th and 20th June. The 12 hours event has also been taken under Merida wings and will again have lots of things like dirt jumping, trade and food stands, camping, test rides and many other things going on alongside the 12 hour enduro event. Looking at the date of the event this is the perfect opportunity to sort out your team tactics and to get your legs and motivation warmed up for Mountain Bike Mayhem the weekend after – hence the Queens to Wimbledon.

The race will be held on parts of the new Timberland trail and other first class single-track sections of Ashton Court in Bristol. The lap is approximately 11km long and offers an exhilarating ride with challenging single-track, demanding climbs, technical downhill sections and a great atmosphere in the middle of Bristol. Start is at the top of Ashton Court (signposted from Friday onwards) at 10 o’clock on Saturday morning and will carry on till 10pm. Sunday will see the return of the SAMS round with first class cross country racing. Riders can join the 12 – hour fun in teams of four or five (teams of five would start as mixed and must have at least one female rider) or as solo riders. In both we have a competitive class and a fun category. Bristol being one of the single speed heavens of the UK we obviously have the same thing for all the single speeders out there.

The entry fee for the enduro is £25 per rider for teams and £ 30 for Solo competitors. For more details check out www.bristolbikefest.com and http://www.mtb-marathon.co.uk/events/bristol.php
