New Year, New Times, New Ideas

To follow a cliché title

no more clichés, where the fuck is everyone?! buck up and get chatting.

Right first off

Ideas for fresher fair - GO! we've got it pretty much sorted in terms of what we want to do, but obviously if anyone has a good idea don't hesitate to throw it out there.

When is everyone back - self explanatory, so we can sort some rides out (casual, big trips will be sorted by committee - Val di sol anyone?)

Who can help on freshers fair - specifically ROAD riders! me/sideways/mav will be there a lot so MTB is covered (though not to say we wouldn't welcome someone giving us a much earned break/hangover recovery period) but we know shit all about road riding and I'd like a road bike down there as much as possible.

sponsorship - Any ideas? go....

finally, if you want to see an AWESOME documentary, 199 lives by Travis Pastrana.

Hope everyone has had a good summer

Tevans

(Alaska can come to, the end)

I should have received my new bike by the time uni starts again (although might be bringing my old one up to uni seen as my new one is a ti frame with high end kit on loan from the manufacturer :-P)

I'm not back until maybe the week before uni starts but looking forward to finally getting out on some rides with you guys. I will this year, honest!

Don't think I'm entirely qualified to help out with freshers fair, but I'll probably pop along and say hello :-)

on the freshers fair front...qualifications not necessary, just smile and wave.

More importantly...TI frame with high end kit? goddamnit i cant help but ask....explain sounds P.I.M.P

More than willing to set up a stall on Sutton Bonington with Reuben at our freshers fair?

15 August, 2010 21:26

My road bike is hardly worth bragging about but I'll happily bring it along and spend as much time on the stall as you need. Will be in Notts from that week anyway. Have we got what we need for the stall in terms of photos/posters and things like that?

15 August, 2010 23:23

A stall on SB would be awesome, Tevans if you're reading this get in touch with Lewis and sort something out.

Alex, yeah I think you and Matt will take turns on the stall as we agreed at least one roadie should be on it, last year potential members were asking questions about the road side of things which MTBers just didn't know the answers to! We have got loads of photos, the club own some photos and I've just got some printed abroad for cheap (from the BBQ) which NUBike owes me £10 for (is it you or Matt who is treasurer?) We still need some posters or something saying 'Road/DH/XC/DJ' etc, we'll get that sorted.

16 August, 2010 15:34

We could add some cheeky photos from UKBP if i get the decent quality ones from stefan as sidders & mav were riding in their jerseys.

I'll call lewis now.

Alex is treasurer, matt is road sec.

committee you need to rejoin as of 1st of September.

posters i'll get on it (/beg computer literate friends for a hand)

its not a case of having a pimp bike etc....yeah its nice but so long as we've got someone there to go ROAD RIDING IS FUN AND WE DO LOTS OF IT, + details then we're happy as last year people got a lot of blank stares from me

16 August, 2010 16:21

Hey I should be back week before freshers and happy to help out with freshers fair. Does anyone know what time the fair opens and how many days it runs for this year? If we can get a time sheet sorted so that at least one roadie and one mtb are there. For posters if we can get loads printed I dont mind going round and putting them up in all the halls/portland etc..

For first trip of the year I reckon Cannock on the first weekend after freshers week (about 2nd Oct?) if thats cool with everyone as its nice and close and should be easy to sort out.

Does anyone know where we got to with the sponsorship that Joe was on about? Sounded really good... ;-)

16 August, 2010 20:30

Cannock is on the cards yeah as the first one. simply because its easy and wont scare people off.

as for when it is that'll be left for a bit, We will have a committee meeting weekend BEFORE freshers week that I'll announce shortly, Sunday evening everyone should be able to do, if you aren't here by then....well should be around to help with freshers fair.

as for time sheet....mtb front a combo of me/sidders/mav/alex will be there, its road riders we dont really have much in the way of idea and i need to know when they can do it.

sponsorship i dont know, he told me he was going to tell the guy and whatnot, i've heard nothing though

17 August, 2010 13:04

Yeah Cannock for a first trip makes sense really, XC/DH, local, and it's actually good.

Putting up posters in halls etc is a really good idea, would be glad to do that with Sam once we get them sorted.

With regards to first committee meeting, can we make it early in the week before uni starts rather then the weekend before, as people will be getting into Nottingham that weekend and some may be getting there Sunday evening and would need time to get settled etc?

17 August, 2010 13:53

Freshers fair is from Monday 20th-22nd so committee meet anytime week before this or even saturday instead of sunday would be better as its quite short notice to sort stuff out.

Alex do you know if your gonna be doing that race in Wales? You said you were waiting to see if you had a car?

17 August, 2010 14:44

Oh yeah good shout, will speak to the parents but am 90% sure they will let me have it despite my mum thinking she needs to get me an "old banger" after seeing how filthy her precious car gets when I use it for biking trips lol. Will give you a call this eve about it.

18 August, 2010 17:55

crap i thought freshers fair was wed - fri, had just assumed

we NEED people around the weekend before. You did join the committee n all guys....

anyone good with photoshop? I've almost given up with the poster, cant make a good one.

19 August, 2010 11:14

Getting my ti bike from Kingdom bikes, they wanted some input from a non-bloke! :-P

Cannock sounds like a good shout =D
