Midlands XC Series - Chesterfield - Sunday 15h May

This is a shout out from an Old Boy to see if any nubikers would be up for marshalling at the Midlands XC race on Sunday!

Venue is located just North of Chesterfield and there is camping and a pre-race party on Saturday night, so you could even go for a ride in the Peaks on Saturday then marshal on Sunday! All marshals get fed and watered, plus £25 for their help. Venue is also just a couple of miles spin from Chesterfield train station.

If you'd like to race, then you could marshal for half a day and get a discounted £10 race entry in return.

I had no idea a NUBike old boy was involved in the Mids XC?

I'm actually planning to do this race should my knee be okay by Sunday (banged it pretty hard today).

Can't say I'll be camping Saturday or intending to marshall Sunday, but if you see a guy wearing green Nottingham Uni kit give us a shout!

Yeah, there's a few nubiker's involved (me, Nadine and Andy) plus always a few oldboys racing!

We've talked in the past of having a grads vs. undergrads race, but it hasn't happened yet...

We were talking about organising that too, though it would have to be after exams so in the weeks beginning 6th and 13th June... Maybe 5th would be good as the 11-12th we have a trip to the Lakes and the weekend after term ends and people will be going home.

How does this race usually happen? Do we organise our own thing around, say Bestwood or do we enter an actual race in the same cat and base the rankings on how we came within that?

Stuff like the Oxford vs. Cambridge varsity take place within an existing event. Could be something to think about for the next academic year?

Alright then, we'll definitely hold one next year. Could be Sherwood BMBS or one of the Midlands rounds. We'll let you old boys know!
