Peaks weekend

25 June, 2008 22:39

Anyone up for a Peaks weekend again this year?

26 June, 2008 14:32

Yes.

I don't have any free weekends till October though...

27 June, 2008 01:06

Yes, have some weekends but summer ones are trickier (not imporrible though).. Sept?

Doesn't it rain in October.. not like it doesn't ever rain at other times...

02 July, 2008 13:31

Pete, I'm well up for one, Around most weekends in July and September. My mates in the area have found quite a few downhill runs and jump spots quite near to Sheffield if you fancy a mix of XCness and extremeness. I've also invested in a route book for the white peak. Unfortunately every route I've been on so far has involved riding along a dis-used railway track for 30k. Not impressed.

15 July, 2008 14:31

How about the weekend of 16th-17th August?

15 July, 2008 15:42

I should be in....

15 July, 2008 19:00

Hopefully submitting thesis in the middle of august so I can't possibly plan that far ahead at the moment!

17 July, 2008 17:33

Away on hollies that weekend unfortunately. DJ, good luck with the submission, I've got my VIVA on the 14th, it's been so damn long I've forgotten what I did the bloody thing on.

18 July, 2008 00:07

I can only do from the 23rd Aug onwards for weekends....

21 July, 2008 23:42

Me, Pete and Amit are up for the 16-17th August...

22 July, 2008 10:12

The search for accomodation has begun!

Phil R is game as long as he can save enough beer tokens beforehand. Or maybe Alex could come along?

22 July, 2008 13:20

Am I allowed to come and play? I'm free then if it helps with the numbers.

22 July, 2008 14:50

I'm in, and potential total car/bike capacity of 4 bikes and riders... Though it may be a slow drive if we have to go up any hills...

22 July, 2008 23:36

very tempted with 16-17th but will have to see how my entrance into 'real world' and moving house all goes on 5th August!

23 July, 2008 12:34

All old boys welcome :-)

28 July, 2008 19:07

I'm up for camping!

02 August, 2008 18:20

I'm up for this, and have no camping quarms.

07 August, 2008 10:22

What with Twentyfour12 and the Midlands Champs I haven't done much organising for this yet...

07 August, 2008 11:31

How about 20th Sept instead, it'll be my first free weekend back in the Midlands...

07 August, 2008 22:22

:-)

Seconded

10 August, 2008 22:27

Are people still up for this road trip?

10 August, 2008 23:41

20th works for me. I'll get looking into some accomodation/camping if someone can give me an idea of where a good start point would be.

11 August, 2008 16:19

keen for this weekend - can't make 20th
james

12 August, 2008 11:09

I think I am free for either

13 August, 2008 11:30

I'm guessing that as its wednesday and the weather for the weekend looks foul that we're not going till september...

13 August, 2008 18:36

Yep :-)

13 August, 2008 19:54

bah.
enjoy: i'll be preparing for my 31mile row on sun 21st sept. maybe i had better start training!

08 September, 2008 10:53

Waiting to see what is happening with the last round of the NPS means I haven't been on the look-out for any accomodation...

15 September, 2008 14:10

Ooh, I'm around on the Saturday, I'll come out for the ride. Unfortunately I've agreed to do a 10 mile leg of a 50 mile running relay on Sunday. If i suddenly burst into tears on Saturday, you'll know why.

Si C

19 September, 2008 10:23

Shall we agree on a date to make this happen before the end of the year?

22 September, 2008 14:14

Me and James D had a discussion about this at the weekend - weekend of 18th - 19th October gets our vote. Who's in?

22 September, 2008 15:23

I'm free on the Saturday again. Well up for it.

23 September, 2008 18:16

I can do that weekend - possibly not the Sunday, but certainly in for Saturday. Count me in!

Tim.

24 September, 2008 11:21

unfortunately i can't make October...have a great trip if you decide to go.

26 September, 2008 11:32

So do people fancy one day or two?

A day-trip is fine by me, pref. for Sunday, but easy either way...

26 September, 2008 14:43

I can only do Saturday.

27 September, 2008 18:47

I can probably make either

27 September, 2008 20:39

I'm up for both days. That weekend suits me.

29 September, 2008 18:59

Accomodation then - what & where?

Didn't think much of the bunkhouse we had before tbh, b&b perhaps?

30 September, 2008 10:54

I've got a list of phone numbers I'll phone up at lunchtime.

The nice place at Bamford we've stayed at before is already full for 17th/18th.

30 September, 2008 15:10

Right then.

I've booked a bunkhouse at Pindale Farm (just outside Hope). £10pppn, sleeps up to 12, has a climbing wall on site amongst other things and a nice rocky descent takes you right to the front door.

So far it's:

Martyn
Simon C
Tim
James D
James H
Nadine
Amit

5 places left!

30 September, 2008 15:10

And maybe Phil R!

30 September, 2008 22:24

Ruth's a maybe I think... needs persuading!

01 October, 2008 00:32

I should be in for that weekend - either/both days are good

01 October, 2008 23:43

I'm not staying Saturday night by the way, so +1 space left!

02 October, 2008 09:59

I'm in, both days (my legs are aching at the thought....)

Amit - You good to provide transport for me and gaterider? Saturday or friday travelling?

Keith

02 October, 2008 16:22

Just the Saturday night for me lads ta, looking forward to it.

06 October, 2008 10:47

I'm tempted but I think I'm going to give this a miss - I need some weekends free for exploring the trails closer to home! I hope you're all up for a trip to S Wales as the next NUBIKers reunion. In the meantime if any of you are ever near Swansea look me up.

06 October, 2008 19:28

Keith: Yep, can take my car. I'm thinking go up on Friday but not too fussed.

Anyone know any good campsites in the Peaks? Going to Manchester this sat, got Friday off so was thinking of going walking on Friday and camp for the night before going to Manc on sat.

Actually, anyone know any good walking routes?

07 October, 2008 18:31

If anyone's feeling energetic, there's a trailquest on the Sunday of our stay:

http://www.darkandwhite.co.uk/challenge-events-outdoor-activities.asp?race_id=203

14 October, 2008 14:19

Here's an address for the bunkhouse:

Pindale Road, Hope, Hope Valley, S33 6RN

There is a website (http://www.pindale.fsbusiness.co.uk/) but it doesn't seem to work!

Looking forward to a weekend of proper riding :-)

14 October, 2008 14:52

sounds good.. do we need to bring sleeping bags or is bedding provided?

14 October, 2008 16:29

Take sleeping bags to be on the safe side!

14 October, 2008 17:34

Hmm... Me and Gate have to ride across London on a friday night to our pickup point....

I'm glad I've got a compact sleeping bag!

15 October, 2008 01:03

Is it this weekend?

Is it Fri night or Sat am arrival?

Will it rain?

15 October, 2008 09:54

Mr. Robson! We have accom. booked for Friday night to enable more riding on Saturday.

Weather looks mild and cloudy.

Do you have a working bike?

15 October, 2008 18:58

What time's everyone planning to arrive on Fri then?

16 October, 2008 00:40

Ah. Ooh. Hmm.

Oops.

Well, I got a gig on Fri night to go to with my dad so will be along afte that at late o'clock I guess...

Lots of working bikes at the moment so will see which fancies an outing... maybe the Patriot... :-P

16 October, 2008 12:04

"Weather looks mild and cloudy. "

Translation - "if it's going to rain anywhere, then dark peak will be the first to know about it"

Have fun guys (not too much fun mind, or you'll only make me regret not making the trip up north).

16 October, 2008 19:53

Oh & how much cash do we need for the bunkhouse Jimbo?

17 October, 2008 10:15

Me and Nadine will be arriving around half eight. Bunkhouse is £10pppn.

Oh, and this weekend is intended to be fun, no 50 mile death marches! If you want that, then bring your skinny tyres and join Nadine on her planned 5hr road rides...

17 October, 2008 10:15

Also, bring your lights if you fancy a dawn ride up Mam Tor :-)

17 October, 2008 12:25

I should be there about 8.30ish too, traffic dependent.

17 October, 2008 13:46

Dammit Jimbo! You could've mentioned the lights thing sooner!

I can't go home and get them now you so and so, and I'll be dead jealous if a load of you troll off to watch the sun rise from the top of the hill...

"No 50 mile Death marches" - Whats changed JImbo? Going soft in your old age ;) I was looking forward to collapsing in a quivering mess 15 miles from base camp....

Me, Amit and Martin should be setting off from London around 6-6:30, so we'll probably arrive around midnight, given that its the M1....

17 October, 2008 14:26

I have spare lights :-)

17 October, 2008 16:20

"Me and Nadine will be arriving around half eight"

I'll aim for 10pm then! ;-)

Also have a spare light that might do for a couple of hours if people are without.

See you all later :)

20 October, 2008 10:30

Well, some of those descents were proper chuff buggers and that last climb on Sunday morning was a right uncle f****r! :-)

Great to see people again, who's up for a trip to see David at Afan soon?

Btw, this is where I've got reflective tape from before: http://www.profabrics.co.uk/

21 October, 2008 15:45

Yep, great weekend cheers all & esp. Jimbo for sorting bunkhouse & him & Simon for leading the rides :-)

BTW Jimbo, think you're £10 up as I paid for two nights but Andy also paid for one of my nights! ;-)

Wales trip - defo - Jan perhaps?

22 October, 2008 16:20

Jan sounds good - Afan in the snow again? :-)

23 October, 2008 00:05

Jan is good...

Top riding guys - have uploaded my pics to facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=64311&l=f3045&id=692576203

23 October, 2008 10:19

I don't believe Andy got up for a pre-dawn ride. He's not actually IN any of the pictures is he? Oh how convenient, you were the one behind the lens ;-)

You're all (well, as many of you as will fit in the house) very welcome in January - I might actually know my way around a fraction of the trails down here by then.
