10 January, 2009 18:49

Anyone doing the Dyfi Enduro this year? Entries are out later in the month.

11 January, 2009 21:38

Count me in.

12 January, 2009 11:08

Probably... although it's the same weekend as the Gorrick Enduro dammit :(

12 January, 2009 18:52

I am going for a tentative YES

13 January, 2009 08:55

I shall also jump on the tentative yes bandwagon.

25 January, 2009 19:48

I'm game fo-show!

25 January, 2009 21:17

Turns out I can't make this after all.... grrrr.

09 February, 2009 11:39

Yup, no diggidy

03 March, 2009 20:18

04 March, 2009 19:52

05 March, 2009 23:21

Dam, i was lazy about doing this on monday and now all the entries are filled! Shit!!!!! Well pissed off now.

06 March, 2009 09:52

What he said ^^^

Cock. Marin Rough Ride anyone...?

06 March, 2009 12:12

Same issue for Gaterider guys; just keep an eye on STW a few weeks before though, always people selling places around then.

David - Rough Ride is in my diary too, although does clash with Midlands XC round 2...

06 March, 2009 18:46

yeh, bit of a bummer, definatley not doing rough ride again that was the most soul destroying thing last time. good tshirt though, wearing it now infact.

06 March, 2009 20:22

I'm up for doing a another one too - any ideas?

07 March, 2009 19:48

what about a merida marathon event?

08 March, 2009 14:45

I'm planning to do the 12th April Merida Marathon at Builth Wells if anyone fancies it?

Done it the last 2 years... not as interesting a course as the Dyfi, but a good challenge all the same.

09 March, 2009 09:35

Bulith Wells is only 50 miles away so I can't really say no...

Also at the Llanwrtyd Wells round in July there's a road sportive on saturday followed by the off-road enduro on Sunday.... now that would be a tough weekend! Anyone up for one or the other, or both?!

09 March, 2009 15:34

Or we could just meet up and do a big ride somewhere?

I can arrange number boards and a timing system if you really want them... :-)

09 March, 2009 18:41

Not a bad idea that Jimbo... I've got an epic-ish South Downs ride (~60 miles I think) I've wanted to do for ages if people fancied that on the Merida weekend instead?

09 March, 2009 20:07

Yeah but the thing with the S Downs is, right, that its not within an hour's drive of my house ;-)

Meeting up for big rides is great but I feel like I need to enter some long-distance 'events' as an incintive to get fit - I don't feel like I've wintered well in terms of long rides. Too much sodding running! But it would be great to meet up for some bid days out too. Open invite to come down to Swansea anytime in the summer BTW, especially those of you who haven't made it yet - any excuse to show off how good the riding is round here!

09 March, 2009 21:12

Not _that_ far from you though David!

Regardless of location though, we could make 2 days of it perhaps... in fact how about a proper epic of a big loop that takes 2 days with an overnight stop?

10 March, 2009 09:12

Carrying your kit 'alpine style'? Now your talking :-)

10 March, 2009 10:30

I'd be up for that - would need to be somewhere remote tho. How about mid-wales ;-)

10 March, 2009 18:28

parts of Warwickshire are wild... at least a good 300m from any road....

No?

10 March, 2009 21:30

Mid-Wales ok by me if you're up for planning a 2 day route & accommodation DJ?

11 March, 2009 09:24

How about Aberystwyth to Shrewsbury?

11 March, 2009 09:33

I'm sure I read about an off-road route across Wales (S coast to N coast) someone had put together (and no I'm not talking about the TransWales!). Not suggesting we do ALL of it unless you have 6 or 7 days to spare....

Or, how about the off road Coast to Coast ;-)

11 March, 2009 11:39

Sarn Helen trail is S to N in Wales in 6 days (http://linkpot.net/oceans/), there's the trans-cambrian trail (which might be the transwales, but not the merida event route) in 3 days (http://linkpot.net/headings/). Been thinking about doing the trans-cambrian trial for a while, possibly with some wild camping thrown in for added stupidity. Not that I've been riding enough to be fit enough for any of that to be fun.

Either way, I've entered the Dyfi enduro, so I'm not looking for too many other options.

11 March, 2009 15:20

Definite vote here for the Trans Cambrian trail; I could take the Fri off too to get the 3 days needed. Be a good warm up for the off-road coast-to-coast (one year!).

See http://www.imba.org.uk/uploads/routes/TransCambrianGoogleMap/ for the route.

12 March, 2009 10:18

YES to the Trans Cambrian trail!

Are you looking to do this on the Dyfi weekend? or another weekend?

12 March, 2009 13:05

TransCam looks good but would need a 50 mile transfer back to Knighton at the end... I'm bits of it could be turned into a loop tho....

That Sarn Helen thing was the one I was thinking of, cheers John. I'll definitely send off for that - worth it if only for the local bits.

13 March, 2009 09:10

Yes to the Trans-Cambrian trail from me!

13 March, 2009 18:57

Back to enduros for a mo: I've just signed up for the Llanwrtyd Wells road sportive on saturday followed by the off-road enduro on Sunday.

Eep.

13 March, 2009 19:20

Eek indeed. Hoping to be off to the Pyrenees that weekend though, shame! ;-)

Trans Cambrian trail then... can I propose Friun 12th April. Gives us the bank hol Mon to recover :-)

Route back to start - with enough people, perhaps we could leave a couple of cars at each end?

15 March, 2009 00:33

aargh.

Let me check fitness levels... how far is it? taking tents or B&B?

15 March, 2009 14:32

I can't do that weekend..... any other weekend in April would be fine. Or how about one of the May bank holidays?

15 March, 2009 19:46

Ar$e... will start new thread about April bank hol plans then.

16 March, 2009 08:48

Also, cast your imagination back to early April 2008. It snowed! Therefore maybe a little early in the year to be tackling three days of high, remote moorland with confidence in the weather (not that you can ever have MUCH confidence in the weather obviously)...

16 March, 2009 09:38

25th / 26th April gets my vote for the TCT.

16 March, 2009 11:40

I can do that weekend (i think)....

16 March, 2009 18:47

No can do 25/26th April :(

17 March, 2009 13:15

I could also do May 2nd/3rd (bank holiday??) or 23rd/24th.

However I have the feeling that weekends you and Jimbo both have free probably = 0

17 March, 2009 14:12

Lol! You may be right - May and June are choca.

How about the August Bank Holiday? :-)

17 March, 2009 15:12

Fine by me! Everywhere might even be dry at that time of year. And I might be fit.....

17 March, 2009 16:56

LOL, May bank hol is back to Dyfi... the start of this thread!

Can't do Aug bank hol.
