Before I spend hours trawling the internet, does anyone have any suggestions of good Bunkhouses/B&Bs near Coed y Brennin/Afan?

Hope you're all well!

I am curious about this one, mainly because I'd like to be able to remember the one in Dolgellau we've used for previous club trips (first one I went on, so has left me with happy memories/mental scars, but not the name of the place). That was a self catering bunk house type place with a big bike storage room, right in the town centre. Don't know if enough of the committee of that era (2005?) still see this forum to spot your post. Hopefully Pete's still involved somewhere, or this site will randomly disappear sometime.

There's braich goch ( http://www.braichgoch.co.uk/ ) in Corris, near the cli-mach-X trail, a bit south of Dolgellau, so not a long drive from CyB, and on the way (ish) to Nant-yr-arian which is ace. The club has used braich goch on trips before (we set the giant jenga record, which apparantly needs re-claiming from Tec).

No idea about Afan, I've camped whenever I've been (take Midge repellant and bike locks - it's not that far from 'civilisation', and right next to a stream), but the facilities/cafe at glyncorrwg (the north bit of Afan) are pretty good. You realise those are about as far apart as you can get for welsh trail centres, right?

Just seen a recommendation (albeit from someone I've never met) for this place near Afan, feel free to be a guinea pig: http://www.afanforestbreaks.co.uk/index.htm

I think the one in Dolgellau (with the pool table) was owned by Sian and Dafyd who ran the cafe at CyB.

Also near Nant Y Arian (in Machynlleth) was a really nice bunk house owned by Reditrek IIRC.

Right, found it:
The one in Dolgellau is Plas Isa: http://www.plasisa.co.uk/
Think it's under new ownership, but it's only a bunkhouse so got to still be worth a luck.

The one in Mach is: http://www.reditreks.com/php/The-Bunkhouse.php
